The state of SEO is always evolving and if you talk to 10 SEO specialists you will likely get 10 different strategies to execute on.

I decided to put together a list of what I consider to be THE steadfast SEO recommendations for staffing agencies. This list has yielded wins for Recruitsy and a number of our clients — they had an impact that we were able to identify and quantify — and might be useful to you.

Here are five SEO recommendations that I’ve consistently seen make a positive impact in SEO's ever-changing world that need to be considered for your staffing agency

1.Structured Data matters The short explanation of why structured data is helpful is that it tells the search crawlers what there is within your page. If you are not familiar with this you can follow this helpful Structured Data guide to get you quickly up and running.

Structured data makes it faster and easier for crawlers to understand ,the information within the page, ie, your staffing agency contact info, job postings, testimonials, etc. If applied correctly, it will make a positive impact on your pages.

2.Page Freshness - Your page’s freshness is determined by multiple factors, but simply having a date on a page is one of the easiest ways to indicate to Google how fresh your page is. This applies to blogs and news, but it’s also relevant for product pages related to dates, such as event sites.

If you think about page freshness from a user perspective, it’s easier to understand why it matters so much. When you obtain search results that have an old date, such as articles, depending on the subject, you might consider them less relevant than if they had a recent date. Crawlers know this too and have the ability to differentiate between fresh and old content whether it has a date or not.

Page freshness matters for any industry, and while dates are helpful, your content freshness should always reflect and target what users are searching. Consider adding Dates to your job pages, "{Brand Name} Jobs | Last Updated: June 2019"

3.Internal Linking (still matters) - Before your staffing agencies content can rank, it needs links. Google finds your posts and pages best when they’re linked to from somewhere on the web. Internal links also connect your content and give Google an idea of the structure of your staffing agency website. They can establish a hierarchy on your site, allowing you to give the most important pages and posts more link value than other, less valuable, pages. So using the right internal linking strategy can boost your SEO!

4.Title Tags - Title tags have more potential (and SEO value) than most people realize. Because title tags typically show up in the SERPs, and when a page/post is shared on social media it’s essential that a title tag entices the user to click‐through to your staffing agencies content from the SERPs (or wherever they are).

Here are a couple more reasons why title tags are important to your staffing agency website for SEO:

First impressions count:

-Your title tag is typically the first thing a potential visitor will take notice of when performing a search. So this is your chance to make a positive first impression;

-Brand leverage: People trust brands. If you’re a household name in your industry, make sure you prominently display your brand name in your title tag. Again, this entices the click and leads to more traffic.

-Google (and other search engines) look at your title tag, amongst other things, to help make sense of your page.

That’s likely why there’s a slight correlation between the usage of keywords in the title tag and rankings.

Original title: “Jobs | [brand name]”

Changed title: “Jacksonville IT Jobs June 2019 | Apply Now | [brand name]”

5.Get Backlinks - SEO is largely driven from your domain authority (DA) and the authority of those linking to your website. Content is still king with SEO. To drive backlinks from high DA sites you need creative content and you need to be viewed as the authority expert in your staffing industry. We encourage clients to write regular blog content, publish infographics, trends, surveys, testimonials, share social content, etc to increase the volume of backlinks. The process can also be quite expensive for big pieces but we’ve also experienced a positive impact with more lightweight pieces on a smaller budget.

When it comes to SEO for your staffing agency, do not expect short term — rather foucs on the long game strategy strategy. Building a strong SEO presence creates lasting brand equity that produces ongoing organic results and leads.

Lastly, measure your results. You need to baseline current SEO rankings with all of your content strategy changes to see if you are making positive/negative impacts on your SERP positions.

My hope is that this short list can provide you with some ideas and directions on things to consider and help boost your staffing agencies SEO. As I mentioned above, these are not hard written rules, but they are the ones worth their weight,
